On June 7, 1892, President Benjamin Harrison becomes the first U.S. President to attend a Major League baseball game. He did NOT throw out the first pitch - that would have to wait until President Taft was so honored in 1910.

The Sporting Life remarked that his presence did not assist the home team in any way, as the home-town Senators lost to the Reds by a score of 7-4.

President Harrison did manage to claim two records at the ballgame; when the contest remained undecided until the eleventh inning, he also becomes the first President to see an extra-inning game.

Later that year he attended a second game, only to see the Senators lose agin; this time to the Philadelphia Phillies. It must have been catching - when presidential elections were held later that year, he lost that too.
